Our Women in Leadership spotlight series shines a light on some of the many talented women who work on our team and are committed to developing and empowering their female colleagues.

This month, we're shining our spotlight on Lax Narayan, Application Support Manager, and Mohini Patel, Business Manager. Together, they spearhead our Women in Technology initiative in Europe.

Lax Narayan
Application Support Manager, Technology (Europe)

Mohini Patel
Business Manager, Technology (Europe)

Lax & Mohini's European Women in Technology group has had a significant impact since its inception. The group focuses on supporting and empowering women in technology and giving them tools to help them succeed at all levels of their careers.

What I Do:

Lax: I lead a Technology team that supports business critical post-trade applications.

Mohini: I support the technology leadership teams in achieving our strategic, financial and operational goals by managing relationships with key partners to enable business optimisation.

Proud Moment:

Together, we've helped establish an impactful European Women in Technology (WiT) initiative that has driven business transformation and strategic partnerships. WiT has influenced senior leaders to take action in improving diversity in senior technology positions — female representation on the European technology management team increased by 30% in the last year. In addition, WiT has been developing a more robust female talent pipeline by hosting events such as its first ever technology hackathon in 2019 and a global virtual Leadership Academy in 2020.

Advice to My Younger Self:

Lax: Dream big. The only obstacles to your success are the ones you create in your own mind. When I was younger, I concentrated on excelling at my role and only took up opportunities that leveraged the skillset I already had — I focussed more on job security than owning my career. Now I understand the value of taking stretch assignments and am confident that I can achieve success in whatever I desire.

Mohini: Be passionate and embrace opportunities to lead. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about a job title, it’s about who you are and finding purpose and meaning in what you do and how you do it. By being enthusiastic, accountable, open-minded and committed to helping people, you set a positive example and can inspire others to reach their full potential.
