Financing![]() Financing, as related to international trade, involves many of the same issues, objectives and techniques of commercial finance in a domestic business setting. In addition, there are significant risks, and several financing techniques that are specific to the international trade business. Financing, if provided to your trading partner, can be a significant competitive advantage and an effective way to facilitate profitable business. As an importer you can secure the supply source by offering L/Cs as the payment instrument. As an Exporter, you can also use attractive financing as a way to attract business, by allowing the foreign Importer to delay payment to an agreed future date, through a payment under a Term Letter of Credit. In terms of managing your own cash flow and working capital, TD GTF can provide a wide range of options. Under Documentary Collections and Letters of Credit which are issued with a Term Payment, TD may discount the obligation for export clients (subject to credit availability), allowing for immediate access to funds that would, under the original terms, be available at some future date, perhaps as long as 180 days from the date of shipment or from the date of presentation of the shipping documents. Discounts may be effected for periods ranging from a few days up to two years or more, depending on the nature of the transaction. Exporters may also benefit from various types of financing involving outstanding invoices and foreign receivables. We may engage with an Exporter (subject to credit approval) to purchase foreign receivables at a discount, or we may be able to extend financing based upon the existence of the foreign receivable. In addition, TD GTF can offer further options through government programs offered by Export Guarantee Program (e.g.: Working Capital Solutions through EDC’s Pre-shipment Financing Program (PSF)). Under certain circumstances, TD GTF may also facilitate access to Equity Financing through TD Securities. Please contact us for further details. |
